On Saturday 10/29 we had the biggest October snowfall on record. The long-range forecast is calling for a snowy winter and we are off to a great start!
As many of our guests at The Inn at Westwynd Farm know, we are avid skiers. We don’t want the beautiful fall season to be over too soon, but the unexpected cold and snow this weekend reminded us it‘s time to start planning for some winter fun!
Roundtop Mountain Resort is just an easy 45-minute drive from our Hershey B&B. While it may not be the biggest mountain in world, it truly offers something for everyone. If you don’t have a lot of time, consider night skiing.
The ski school is outstanding and delights in introducing both kids and adults to the sport.
The children’s programs are wonderful. It’s amazing how fast even 5 year-olds can progress when they are having fun!
The staff also understands the adult beginner and will get you off to a great start. We didn’t start skiing until we were in our 30’s – it really is never too late.
There’s plenty of terrain for the more advanced skiers, too, including two double black diamonds. With the installation of a new Skytrac quad chairlift, they will add another Expert trail “Patriot” and they promise – BUMPS!
Of course for the teens (and teens at heart) there are super terrain parks.
Even the non–skiers in your family can have great time. Snow Tubing is a great way to experience the fun of winter recreation from a whole new perspective. No experience is necessary, simply grab your tube and let the fun begin!

Tubing tickets are valid from open to close. Tube all you like, take a break, have a bite to eat. – there’s no rush! All day tickets offer a great value and allow you to tube on your schedule.
For that member of your family that might prefer warmth and reading, the Mountain View Lodge features a variety of food and drink, cozy fireplaces and the best view on the mountain. A giant fire pit adds to the atmosphere outside.
The WiFi system has been completely replaced for much better reception. In addition there is a special seating area in the Food Court with power outlets for people who would like to use their laptops. The seating area has great views of the courtyard and slopes.
We prefer to go mid-week when we feel like we have the mountain to ourselves. For us, it’s the ideal hooky day.
