Ingredients

  • 2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1½ tsp. vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 3¼ c. all-purpose flour

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, beat together softened unsalted butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, and then add vanilla extract and salt. Slowly add all-purpose flour, beating until ingredients are combined. (Dough will be a little bit sticky.)
  2. Divide dough into 4 parts and cover each in plastic wrap, patting into small squares. Chill until firm, around 2-3 hours or overnight.
  3. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. On a floured surface, roll out dough. Cut out cookies using fun holiday-shaped cutters. Transfer cookies to a parchment-lined baking sheet and chill for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Bake until lightly browned, about 10-12 minutes. Cool completely on pan or wire rack before decorating.
