We loving living in Central Pennsylvania. There are so many unique things to do. This auction is one of our favorites. Be inspired by the handiwork of the region’s quilters and artists with a visit to the Pennsylvania Relief Sale in Harrisburg on Friday, April 17, and Saturday, April 18.

In addition to the 59th annual Quilt Auction, showcasing more than 350 quilts, comforters and wall hangings, this fundraising event includes a Silent Auction, featuring jewelry, pottery, artwork and antiques, and a Country Auction, offering furniture, home décor, collectables and quilt racks – just the thing for those who’ve placed the winning bid on a quilt.

Quilt AuctionBeyond the auctions, there are a variety of booths with such items as handmade linens, clothing and crafts, plus fair trade goods, books, plants, gardening accessories, and sewing and quilting supplies. Another popular attraction is the homemade food, from soups, salads, sandwiches, fries and milkshakes to fruit breads, donuts, apple dumplings and strawberry pie.

On the entertainment schedule: Bluegrass singers Amos and Margaret Raber perform Friday night, and children’s activities, Quilt Auctionincluding their own auctions, are planned throughout the event.

Proceeds benefit the Mennonite Central Committee, which provides aid for impoverished communities worldwide.
